THIS IS A S.C. LLR & BOARD OF DENTISTRY APPROVED RADIATION SAFETY CERTIFICATION STRUCTURED COURSE AND EXAM.

The use of dental x-ray is not to be taken lightly, which is why they approve and require courses such as this one for dental assistants to legally and safely x-ray patients.

THIS ONLINE STRUCTURED COURSE IN RADIATION SAFETY SPECIFICALLY ADDRESSES SOUTH CAROLINA REQUIREMENTS: Dental assistants can “Expose radiographs upon completion of a Board approved radiation safety course” and that “All personnel in a dental office who place and expose radiographic films shall have successfully completed a structured course of training in radiation safety.” (LLR — State Board of Dentistry, Chapter 39-12)

Passing a simple online exam does not legally certify you to safely x-ray patients; you MUST complete a formal structured course from an ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP) provider like us. (Recognition documentation from S.C. posted below.)

THIS COURSE AND EXAM FEE together are $199 and your exam can be repeated at no additional fee if needed. Plus, you do not have to work for a dentist first. State law allows you to take this structured course and exam immediately.

This Radiation Safety Structured Course and Exam offered at https://xray.thinkific.com/courses/SCXrayDA is recognized and approved by both the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation and the Board of Dentistry. They recognize the importance of radiation safety, which is why they require and approve structured courses such as this one for dental assistants to legally and safely x-ray patients.

We’ve facilitated radiation safety courses and exams approved by many states since 1997, certifying thousands of dental assistants to safely x-ray patients. Documentation from South Carolina confirming our authority is attached. Dr. Rick Waters, Instructional Design is recognized by The American Dental Association as an ADA CERP provider, which is required by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation and the South Carolina Board of Dentistry.

IN SHORT, completing a “structured course” is required in South Carolina to use dental x-ray equipment. By definition, a structured course involves a variety of educational methods like lectures, videos, reading assignments, quizzes, exams, and more, and not just a short PDF and test. Be aware that inexpensive $60 exams from short study guides do not comply with South Carolina’s requirement of completing a “structured course.”
